Caféen? at the faculty of SCIENCE aims to establish a hospitable and inclusive atmosphere for all members, including students, university staff, volunteers, and association members. To promote equality and respect, Caféen? members are expected to refrain from engaging in behaviour that is offensive, intimidating, hostile, degrading, or humiliating to others. This Code of Conduct is applicable to all activities held at Caféen?s premises as well as events hosted elsewhere.
The Code of Conduct for Caféen? consists of two separate parts: one for members and one for volunteers. Both parts are equally important and serve to establish the expected standards of behaviour for those who participate in Caféen? 's activities. The code of conduct also includes a short example list of unacceptable behaviour as well as a guide on how to report misconduct.
Code of conduct for all members
Members should adhere to the rules and regulations of Caféen? and follow the instructions of the volunteers at all times. See the website Cafeen.org or scan the QR code below for current rules
Members must refrain from using offensive language or engaging in behaviour that could be considered threatening, violent, or discriminatory towards other.
Members should keep noise to a minimum during study hours 12-17.
Members should respect the property and equipment of Caféen? and avoid damaging or misusing any of the facilities.
Members should respect the privacy and confidentiality of others and not disclose any confidential information obtained through their involvement in Caféen? activities.
Members who observe violations of the Code of Conduct should report them to the Caféen? board or a “Nøglebærer” immediately.
Code of conduct for volunteers
Volunteers should strive to create a positive and inclusive atmosphere at Caféen?
Volunteers should keep unnecessary noise to a minimum, during study hours 12-17 to ensure a comfortable environment for all members.
Volunteers should communicate effectively and respectfully with other volunteers to ensure smooth operations and a positive environment.
Volunteers should be respectful and welcoming to all members, regardless of their background or identity.
Volunteers should avoid engaging in any behaviour that could be considered discriminatory, harassing, or offensive to others.
Volunteers should avoid conflicts of interest and refrain from using their involvement in Caféen? for personal or commercial gain.
Volunteers should maintain a professional demeanour while representing Caféen?.
Volunteers should take measures to keep product loss to a minimum, by ensuring that inventory is properly managed, waste is disposed of appropriately, and items are not taken or used without authorization.
Volunteers cannot make decisions on behalf of Caféen? without the approval of the board. Including but not limited to; answering official inquiries, making purchases, or signing partnerships/contracts.
Volunteers who observe any violations of the Code of Conduct should report them to the Caféen? Board or designated authorities immediately.
Examples of unacceptable behaviour
Any form of sexual harassment, including but not limited to unwanted physical contact, requests for sexual activities, and inappropriate jokes or comments.
Bullying, which includes acts of ridicule, yelling, slander, unfair criticism of students or employees' performance and abilities, or unjust removal of responsibility for tasks.
Discrimination on the basis of race, religion, political views, sexual orientation, gender, age, disability, national, social, or ethnic origin, including denigrating comments or actions.
Any form of violent behaviour, including physical aggression, threats of violence, or destruction of property.
These behaviours are not tolerated at Caféen?, and any member or volunteer found to be engaging in such conduct may be subject to disciplinary action. Caféen? strives to provide a safe and inclusive environment for all our members, and any incidents of unacceptable behaviour should be reported immediately.
Where and how to report
In case of sexual harassment, bullying, threats to your safety, or any other inappropriate behaviour violating this code of conduct, if possible immediately inform one of the on-duty volunteers at the bar so they can take the appropriate steps.
Students and university staff members are also encouraged to turn to the counsellors at their own institute to report instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise discriminatory behaviour from students or university staff members.
Volunteers are encouraged to contact the association board at cafe@cafeen.org or one of the safety representatives. Reports can be filed anonymously and will be handled with complete confidentiality.
All reports will be reviewed, investigated and appropriately responded to. Note that due to the nature of anonymous complaints it is difficult to investigate and prove misconduct.
